The Reading Specialists work with teachers and school-wide literacy assessments to help identify students who need further testing or support. Tiered interventions are provided to students in kindergarten through fifth grade by reading specialists. Reading support is conducted in a group setting with peers that are reading at a similar level. Students are seen up to 5 days a week, for 30 minutes. Components of these guided reading lessons include word study, vocabulary development, comprehension book discussions, and writing; while focusing on skills needing support. Students may be exited once successful acquisition of reading and writing skills has been established.
